As in most of these situations, it's a minority of psychopaths on both sides who end up causing problems for the majority.
I don't think the majority of isrealis want to see civilians dead, they just want to not worry about being hit by a random rocket. The same applies to most palestinians, they'd much rather be working and sending their kids to school than worrying about when the next attack will be happening. It's a pity the psychos are the ones who control the arms.

Total bullshit. The majority of palestinians voted Hamas into power, full well knowing what Hamas is about. You reap what you sow. Women who consider it a source of pride; the number of their children who have died as suicide bombers - are not the same as women who worry about random missiles killing their children.

There are elections, one party pushes the peaceful route, but has no success, and is corrupt and doesn't help the community much.. the other pushes the violence route, doesn't have much success, but it does help the community. So, let me know, if the US happened to be annexed by china.. which party would you support, the one that wants to reclaim your land by any means necessary, or the one that thinks that parlaying with the controlling power (who has very little reason to want to relinquish power) will work? Oh yeah, btw, none of your so called friends are helping much, they're using your situation for political ammo against china. Let me know.

What if, in your little scenario, the army occupying America was Indians (woo-woo feather hat Indians, I mean)? That change anything?

Oh, and in your scenario, "the land" that's being occupied actually consists of part of the state of Delaware. And instead of food and tools, New York, Vermont and Pennsylvania just send guns.
Now we're getting to a better hypothetical, don't you think?

Certainly.. but remember, you're one of the people in the occupied land. I also mentioned that the people around you were playing the situation for political gain (that includes keeping the flames fanned).
Not too much of religious significance in Delaware though, unless someone has seen another virgin mary in a slice of wonderbread. P.S. you positing that the woo-woo indians actually have a legitimate claim to land in the US?

I am lost on the analogy...but let me ask a different question. Why don't the Palis simply declare a state? Seriously, the Kosovars did it. The joos have practically begged them to do it. Same with the evile Americans. They can even go the Ethiopia/Eritrea route and declare borders w/border conflicts and negotiate later.

US=Middle East me, living in Delaware (the "you" in the hypothetical)=Palestinians Rhode Island=Israel. To keep the scale of the "problem", we'd have to say the dastardly Indians took over most of Rhode Island. Delaware=Palestine Indians=Israelis New York, Vermont, Pennsylvania=neighboring Arab states Gun=guns food and tools=food and tools So if it's ME, seein's how I'm allowed to live and vote in teh occupied country (and Indians are NOT allowed to do the same in New York, Vermonts, etc.), and even given a country of my own IF I WILL JUST STOP TRYING TO KILL THE INDIANS, I'd be more inclined to be pissed at my neighbors for doing nothing for me except demand that I kill Indians. Seein's how I'm all about just going about my life in peace and all. Hypothetically.
